Shower Enclosure Installation Instructions
Before assembling the shower ring, be certain the tub is properly positioned and faucet installation is completed. All leg tub faucets should be installed by a qualified, licensed plumber. Two people are required to complete the following installation instructions.
Slip part A (see diagram below) onto the shower riser about 10" below the crook in the riser. Only tighten slightly as later an adjustment will most likely be necessary. For a two piece riser, connect the two sections of the riser with the union nut. For a three piece riser, connect the three sections of the riser with the shower diverter and the tub filler. Use the included waterproof epoxy if necessary.
Many leg tubs are slightly slanted on the end. The included riser nut and large cone washer have been designed to compensate for this fact. Slide the riser nut and then the cone rubber washer onto the bottom of the riser. The conical end of the rubber washer should point down. Push the rubber washer up the riser until about 1/4" to 1/2" of the riser is exposed below the washer.
Install the riser onto the faucet. When the riser is placed in the faucet diverter, the end of the riser should be resting on the inside of the diverter. Hand tighten the riser nut. It is important to only hand tighten the riser to the faucet at this point.
Take one of the halves of the shower ring and slip it onto part A. Be certain that the threaded hole is towards the outside of the ring. Insert screws and tighten.
Take part B and slip the free ends of the shower ring over this part. Be certain that the threaded hole is towards the top of the ring. Assembly should now resemble the diagram below.
After measuring the proper length for the wall and ceiling braces, cut from the unthreaded end to shorten to the desired length. Do not include the threaded portions of the braces when measuring the braces.
Install the escutcheons onto the wall and ceiling in their proper positions.
Very carefully screw the ceiling brace firmly into part B. Be careful not to flex this joint too much. To reduce flex, a second person should steadily hold the other end of the shower ring as the first person installs the ceiling brace into the ceiling escutcheon and tightens the screw.
Very carefully screw the wall brace firmly into part A. Do not allow the joint to flex. Now adjust part A to the desired height on the riser. Install the wall brace into the wall escutcheon and tighten the screw.
Make certain that all connections are tight and the riser is vertical. After the riser is aligned and the shower surround is installed, tighten the riser nut to compress the cone washer and seal the riser connection to the faucet.
